Social Media Forum Informs Community About Online Dangers

Posted: Updated:
Dozens of parents and their teenagers met with top leaders in Edgecombe County tonight to help put a stop to a growing dangerous trend. The meeting was organized at Tarboro Town Hall, after hundreds of nude pictures of teenagers from the county popped up on social media sites.
A panel of school officials, the Sheriff of Edgecombe County and the Tarboro Police Chief informed them all about dangers of sexting and ways parents can help stop the problem.
Law enforcement stressed that being in possession of inappropriate pictures and sending them to others can be considered a criminal offense and is punishable by law.
Organizers say they plan to have other forums like this in the near future.
