GREENVILLE, N.C. - The 22nd annual "Making Pitt's Babies fit" maternity fair took place at the Greenville Convention Center.

The main purpose was to improve the health of babies in Eastern Carolina by making sure parents, grandparents and friends have answers to all of their baby related questions.

"We wanted to get some information about the different services provided within the town," said Jennifer Greenland, an expectant mother. "We both grew up out of town, so we're kind of new to the area but not really, and we wanted to know what there was available to us."

Organizers say the state's infant mortality rate is typically higher than the national average. Pitt County's rate is even higher, making events like this necessary.
