JPD confirm that the manager of a Car Care Clinic was shot.
A man is saying his employee rights are being violated.
He was shot on the job while trying to close up shop, and says he's being unfairly punished.
Lee Canant was shot back in November at the Car Care Clinic on Robinson road in Jackson.
The former manager says he's been unable to work since and was fired during his recovery.
"how do you pay your bills, you know?" says Canant
Lee Canant has been off the job since being shot.
He says he was fired in March.
"There are a lot of us out there that do not have any false claims. I've been with a company for 20 something years and they want to turn around and fire you because you got a lawyer just to protect your rights."
Canant says he hired a lawyer after his former employer refused to file a claim for worker's compensation.
"He only wanted to pay me eight weeks on salary, five thousand dollars for medical, and not turn it over to the insurance company for worker's comp."
Canant says he is leaving the situation in the hands of his attorney while he tries to focus on a full recovery.
"I'm doing a lot better. More motion in my hand, but I still have a long ways to go. I can't do my wrist like this." says Canant
