NC attorney general to appeal ruling in Young case

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. - The N.C. Attorney General's Office is planning to ask the state's highest court to review the Jason Young case.

The decision comes one day after the state Court of Appeals ruled that a judge shouldn't have allowed evidence about a wrongful death lawsuit and a custody challenge for Young's daughter.

Young is serving a life sentence for the murder of his wife, Michelle. She was five months' pregnant when her sister found her body Nov. 3, 2006, in the Youngs' bedroom. Their then 2-year-old daughter, Cassidy, also was in the bedroom with her mother's body.

Though the Attorney General's Office had weeks to decide whether to ask the N.C. Supreme Court to review the appeals court ruling, spokeswoman Noelle Talley said Wednesday that decision had already been made.
