Relay For Life Friday in Pitt County

GREENVILLE, N.C. -
Celebrate. Remember. Fight back. They are the core values of Relay For Life, an 18 hour walk-a-thon aimed at fighting cancer. Friday night the year-long fundraising effort culminates in Pitt County.

Relay for Life is s an incredible and inspiring opportunity to unite the community. Not only does this event honor cancer survivors, but it raises awareness about what we can do to reduce our risk to cancer.

Patti Jordan is walking for her son. Doctors diagnosed him with bone cancer and will be part of tonight's survivor walk.

"When you see the survivors around the track and know that they're all together in unity walking after the fight that they have already found, it's just a real sense of community." Jordan said.

Cathy and Jim Meenes are cancer surivivors. They said the event is so encouraging for them and fellow surivivors.
The event is taking place at the track at South Central High School.
