Copiah County - A Copiah County family needs to find a new place to live after fire damages their home.

It took firefighters from four volunteer fire departments to control the Friday evening fire at Botishia Mazie's home. Mazie's daughter, Nyesha Turner, says she was there when the fire started.

"I was in there cooking, and then before I knew it, the whole stove had just caught on fire," says Turner.

She called the fire department and ran to safety at a neighbor's house.

"I didn't know what to do," says Turner. "I didn't know how to put out a fire. I'd never been in a fire. Didn't know what to do."

Her mom tells us most of their possessions are burned.

"I just thank God that my kids got out," says Mazie. "All material things can be replaced, but my children's lives couldn't be replaced. So I just thank God that my kids are out at safe."

For awhile, Mazie says they'll stay with family. But she doesn't know when or even if they'll be able to move back into this home.

"Whatever God has in store for us, for me, my kids, I'm just going to let him do what he's doing. I'm just going to continue to praise him and thank him and give him all the glory."

The Chief of the Crystal Springs Volunteer Fire Department tells us when they arrived on-scene, flames were shooting out of the roof in three places. Investigators will determine what caused the fire.
