With one season under their belt, the Hokies who once surrounded Logan Thomas are a lot more familiar with the system second year offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler is drawing up. And while the departure of redshirt senior Logan Thomas won't help the Hokies this year, they gain something they didn't have last year-- options in their run game.
One option is Trey Edmunds. He is recovering from that broken tibia suffered against UVA..and another may be the monster enrollee at the school. True freshman Marshawn Williams. The most obvious attribute of Marshawn is his size. He's listed at 5-11, 224 and he's impressing the offensive lineman with his display of power and strength on the field. Marshawn's been busy running over people this spring--which is impressive considering he technically should still be in high school. Running backs coach Shane Beamer says Williams has been impressive so far considering his youth. And Edmunds says that fans were frustrated by the run game a year ago are in for a pleasant surprise in 2014.
