GREENVILLE, N.C. - Two students arrested for firing a gun near a Pitt County high school made their first appearances in court Monday morning.

Over the weekend, Pitt County deputies arrested 17-year-olds C-Allah Coombs and Jeffrey Gough, both students at JH Rose High School.

Coombs is back behind bars at the Pitt County Detention Center under a $25,000 bond.

Deputies say, last Wednesday, he fired a gun near DH Conley High School, sending the building into lockdown for 20 minutes. He's facing several charges, including felony attempting to discharge a weapon into occupied property. His next court appearance is set for May 1st.

Deputies say Gough drove Coombs away from the scene after he fired the shots. Gough had already bonded out of jail and was slated to be in Pitt County District Court this morning.

9 On Your Side checked with the clerk's office and we do know he made that court appearance.

Pitt County Schools released a statement Monday morning that said they are, “Relieved that nobody was injured last week and thankful that our local law enforcement and school officials acted so swiftly," adding, “We are pleased to say that we know of no current safety issues at D.H. Conley High School."

The Pitt County Sheriff's Office is reporting the arrest of two students in Wednesday's shooting across from D.H. Conley High School.

C-Allah-Mysun Coombs, Jr. and Jeffrey Charles Gough, both 17 and students at J.H. Rose High School, are facing multiple charges.

Coombs is being charged with felony attempting to discharge a weapon into occupied property, felony possession of a firearm on campus and misdemeanor going armed to the terror of the public.

Gough is being charged with felony possession of a firearm on campus and accessory after the fact.

Neighbors of Gough's are shocked a teenager they found to be nice and quiet could possibly be involved in a shooting.

"Every interaction I ever had with him was nothing but pleasant," Scott Pruitt said. "He never seemed like the type I would assume would even be involved with that."

Neighbor Julian Chaioes watched as Gough grew up.

"He was very active. He liked to play a lot of sports. I always [saw] him with something in his hands to play," Chaioes said. "I just never expected anything like this from him. It was kind of like a shock."

Both teenagers' bonds are set at $25,000.
