UPDATE: Police say no indicators Greenway shooting victim knew suspect

UPDATE: Police say no indicators Greenway shooting victim knew suspect

UPDATE: (Monday) Roanoke Police say the victim is a 62-year-old man from Roanoke County.
The victim told detectives he was walking the Greenway and noticed someone about 50 years in front of him, who kept looking behind him in a paranoid state.
The victim told police the suspect turned and fired multiple shots near the Ramada Inn.
At this point in the investigation, police say there is no information that would indicate the victim knew the suspect.
Investigators say the suspect is described as possibly being a male wearing gray sweat pants or blue jeans and a gray or white hoodie.

UPDATE: (Saturday) Roanoke Police continue to investigate this case and are trying to determine if the shooter and the victim knew each other or if this was just a random act of violence. The man who was shot has non-life threatening injuries. Police spent time Saturday patrolling the Roanoke River Greenway and the people we spoke with say they felt safe.

UPDATE: (10:50 p.m.) Roanoke police tell us the suspect is about 5'7" tall and was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
Officers believe the suspect is a man.
We are told police have cleared the scene.
Roanoke police tell WSLS the sergeant is at the hospital talking to the victim about the shooting.

According to Roanoke Police a shooting suspect is at large after one person was shot on the Roanoke River Greenway near the Ramada Inn on Franklin Road.
Police say the victim has non-life threatening injuries.
The call came in around 8:55.
