TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

We have some good news to report about Hope, the little 1-year-old dog that won over the hearts of many after she was doused with kerosene and lit on fire.

A spokesperson for BluePearl Veterinary in Tampa says that burns to Hope's body are about 90 percent healed.

Hope's opthamologist also checked her eyes on Tuesday.

"The healing process of her eyes is now progressing rapidly," said veterinary ophthalmologist Dr. Tammy Miller Michau. "Her vision is improving every day."

If all continues to go well, Hope could be released from 24-hour care early next week.

Hope's owner, Larry Wallace, 66, of Arcadia, was charged with arson and animal cruelty.

The Hardee County Animal Rescue Team is raising money for Hope's recovery. As of  5:45 p.m. Tuesday, they had raised $55,211. Learn more about donating to help Hope.

WFLA.com will continue to keep you updated about Hope.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is changing management rules of invasive lionfish to remove them from state waters. Lionfish was introduced to state waters in the 1980s, and since then, populations have boomed in recent years, negatively impacting native wildlife and habitat, the FWC says.
