Manhunt underway for Plant City murder suspect

PLANT CITY, FL (WFLA) - Police in Plant City are looking for a suspected killer Thursday morning after a man was shot dead outside a convenience store.

Hakeem Alagawan Cook was shot and killed at the 500 block of South Maryland Avenue. Plant City Police officials have identified a suspect in this murder but haven't released the name.

Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies assisted PCPD early Thursday in search for the suspect. The law enforcement vehicles were in an active pursuit at about 3 a.m. but lost the suspect during the chase.

A manhunt is under way near Charlie Taylor and Midway roads north of Interstate 4.

The investigation continues.
