You are invited to the 5th Annual Corazón Latino Festival.
Come with your friends and family to celebrate the rich and vibrant Latino culture by participating in a day jam packed with family fun activities, delicious food, awesome door prizes, free dancing lessons and live entertainment including Brazilian Fire Dancers, Mock Running of the Bulls with Little City Roller Girls, the Latino Pride Parade and so much more in downtown Jonesborough!
This year’s Festival includes:
Kick-off event Running of the Bulls at noon
Brazilian Fire Dancers at 1 p.m.
Latin Jazz at 4 p.m.
Latino Pride Parade at 6 p.m.
Latin Dancing Instruction at 7 p.m.
Main Latino Pop Band at 8 p.m.
Food- Taco trucks, paletas (ice-cream bars), chamoy station and traditional food vendors.
Corazón Sano- Workshops given in Spanish and English explaining high blood pressure and tests, diabetes and healthy living, live demonstrations of how to cook traditional foods in a healthy way and yoga instruction.
Arte y Cine- Latino Art Walk, Stories of Migration: Storytelling of Shared Roots, student film showcase with special Latino director/ producer guest discussing the themes present in Latino films, Living Museum Performance Art with guided tours given every hour.
ChicoZone- Face painting, traditional hair braiding, bilingual children's stories, obstacle course, Spanish scavenger hunt, mask making, crafts and special guest appearances of Dora, Diego and other characters.
Pasaporte A Las Americas- Come travel Latin America without ever leaving Jonesborough’s Main Street! Cultural Ambassadors stand ready to answer questions and to share traditions from their country of origin.
Other Activities- Educational and value-added workshops, community information booths, (did we mention food?) and so much more!
The festivities start at noon and will last until 10 p.m. The Corazón Latino Festival celebration will be a day for the whole family to come and have fun.
But more importantly, we want the festival to foster a better understanding of the diverse backgrounds of everyone who calls the Tri-Cities home.
