101 arrested in Polk County during 3-day operation

Posted: Updated:
POLK COUNTY, FL (WFLA) - Polk County Sheriff's deputies have arrested 101 suspects as part of a three-day operation targeting repeat offenders, drug offenders, offenders on probation.

The investigation ran from Monday through Wednesday this week, and focused on the Auburndale, Winter Haven, Lake Wales, Eloise, Frostproof, and north and south Lakeland areas of Polk County.

Deputies also followed up on crime tips, crime trends and served 15 search warrants. The initiative was a part of the agency’s “PROCAP” (Proactive Community Attack on Problems) program.

Of the 101 suspects arrested, 92 of them are repeat offenders, Sheriff Grady Judd says Friday. Nine were charged with violating their current probation and 13 had warrants.

A total of 325 charges have been made during this operation; 180 felonies, 145 misdemeanors, and 32 outstanding.

Judd says 40 out of the 101 are receiving public assistance and 32 out of the 101 have been to prison before.

The operation resulted in the seizure of $13,378 in U.S. currency, six firearms, one vehicle, over two pounds of cannabis, over three ounces of methamphetamine, and 45.1 grams of hydrocodone totaling about $8,600.

"One of the philosophies of PROCAP is that the person who commits relatively minor public order crimes or who violates traffic laws can be the same person who stole something earlier that day, or is in possession of illegal narcotics," said Sheriff Grady Judd. "We routinely conduct initiatives like these so that the community knows there is always a law enforcement presence out there, keeping them safe."

Over the three day operation Search Warrants were served at the following locations: 108 6th street, Eloise; 2320 Moccasin Drive, Lakeland; 11216 Ponderosa Drive, Lakeland; 9 Lantana Road, Frostproof; Lantana Road, Frostproof; 55 Monroe Street, Frostproof; 5101 Transport Road, Bartow; 1011 Carefree Cove, Winter Haven; 1132 Carefree Cove, Winter Haven; 1098 Carefree Cove, Winter Haven; 113 Harbor Drive, Winter Haven; 1721 Quail Trail, Lakeland; 3065 St. Paul Drive, Winter Haven; 2605 Jungle Street #10, Lakeland; 23700 Hwy 27 South, Room 8, Lake Wales.
