HOUSTON, May 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The release of cross-platform metrics by the Alliance for Audited Media summarize the extension of the Houston Chronicle Media Group's (HCMG) diverse product mix, and affirms the company's position as the number one media company in Houston, reaching an average 2.4 million Houstonians in print and online every day.

Boasting a customer base comprised of Houston's most affluent households who regularly read and subscribe to our print and digital products, the company reaches 54% of the Houston market each day across our brands and platforms.

According to the March 2014 Snapshot report by the Alliance for Audited Media, the Houston Chronicle remained the 7th largest major metropolitan newspaper in the United States on Sundays, and moved to the 8th largest daily.

Demand for digital subscriptions, including the premium access website Houstonchronicle.com, eNewspaper and the iPad app, continued strong growth increasing 6.5% daily and 3% on Sundays compared with the same six-month span a year ago.

"Our commitment to maintaining our responsibility as a relevant, strong business partner to Houston is only reinforced by the products we bring to market to serve our readers and our advertisers," said Houston Chronicle Chief Operating Officer Paul Barbetta.

Houston Chronicle Media Group continues to expand its print and digital product portfolio to reach Houston's diverse and highly sought-after consumer audiences by launching new initiatives, including the expansion of La Voz and the website LaVoxTX.com.  As Houston's #1 Spanish-language newspaper, La Voz and LaVozTX.com combined with our other brands to reach 51% of the growing Hispanic community.

"As more people utilize digital products and mobile platforms, we've seen our All-Digital-Access subscription offering grow significantly," said VP of Marketing & Audience Development, Linda Schaible.   "With high engagement and usage of HoustonChronicle.com, the eNewspaper digital replica, and our iPad® app, our national ranking and growth among digital consumers are an indication of our commitment to being part of an evolving reading habit."

Additionally, HCMG's digital platforms continue to serve the community with breaking news and access to news coverage on multiple devices.  Chron.com has experienced a 26% increase in local visitor growth and holds the number one position in the Houston market among local news providers.
