KOA open for business in Outer Banks

Posted: Updated:
CAPE HATTERAS, N.C. - Several years and $6.5 million later, Kampgrounds of America (KOA) is, once again, open for business in eastern North Carolina.

KOA unveiled its newly rebuilt resort-style Cape Hatteras campground this weekend.

It was devastated Hurricane Irene in 2011 and again by Hurricane Sandy in 2012. The hurricanes caused extensive damage to the cabins, the main building and swimming pool, the beach boardwalk.

KOA and local officials cut the ribbon yesterday to open the completely rebuilt campground. The grand opening celebration continues through the weekend with a variety of family-friendly events to kick off the camping season.

The resort is located along the Pamlico Sound. The property features a wide variety of accommodations including ocean-front “Deluxe Sky Cabins” and Vacation Suites, along with a resort-style pool, activities and amenities for all ages.
