BRISTOL, TN (WJHL) - Gold may glitter, and silver may shine.  But for Tri-Cities thieves on the prowl for fast cash, there's nothing like the lure of copper.

Bristol Tennessee Police want to find the people who stole an estimated $6,000 in items from a former medical office building at 320 Steeles Road on April 4th including about 860 feet of copper pipe.

Police got the call from a construction company remodeling the office building that was co-owned by two companies.   Employees estimated the theft must have occurred between April 4 at 6:30 p.m. and April 5 at 12:30 p.m..

Investigator Brian Hess said, so far, detectives haven't been able to trace the stolen metal through Tri-Cities scrap yards.

"None of the metal recyclers in the area have seen this stuff," said Investigator Hess. "So we're not really sure what they've done with it, where they've went with it, or if they're selling it to other construction companies."
