Recovered assault vehicle from 1970 JSU slayings displayed.
JACKSON, Miss. - Today marks the 44th anniversary of the alleged slayings of Phillip Lafayette Gibbs and James Earl Green by Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers who fired more than 460 shots into a crowd of students on Jackson State University's campus in 1970.
The Highway Patrol assault vehicle used in the deadly attack was rediscovered a by vintage car and vintage film collector, Johnny Morrow.
About 15 other students were wounded on that day.
Morrow displayed the vehicle Wednesday morning at the old Mid State Auction facility on North State Street.
