The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a one vehicle accident early Sunday morning in Lincoln County. It happened on I-55 southbound at mile marker 46 at 12:47 a.m. A 2012 International 18-wheeler ran off the left side of the roadway into the median and hit a tree before catching fire. 59-year-old Henry Thomas of Anguilla, was driving the 18-wheeler and died on the scene. It is unknown if Thomas was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The truck was owned by Heartland Express and was loaded with dog food. One lane of traffic was blocked by several hours as crews cleared the scene. The accident is still under investigation.
