WINONA, Miss. - Winona Police are investigating the murder of a 55-year-old woman who was found dead inside her home on Saturday.
Police Chief Johnny Hargrove said Cheryl Burress was found in her bedroom on her house on Walthall Street when officers were conducting a welfare check.
Police believe Burress died sometime Friday.
Captain Tommy Bibbs did not release the cause of death, but he says it was not from natural causes.
Police did arrest a woman who they say was inside the home when they arrived. Amanda Grant was taken into custody and questioned. Officials say she is the girlfriend of Timothy Burress, the victims son.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Timothy Burress. He is a person of interest in the case, police say.
Both Grant and Timothy Burress lived inside the home with the victim. No other detail about the case have been released.
