SHARKEY COUNTY, Miss. - Seven people have now been arrested in connection to a Sharkey County murder that happened in March. That includes a man who led authorities on an hour-long manhunt Monday evening in Copiah County.
The State Department of Public Safety has also released new details about the murder, now that the two-month investigation has wrapped up. They say three of the men charged posed as agents from the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics when they showed up at the victim's house. That was just after 9:00 p.m. on March 29.
Authorities say they held a woman and four children hostage at the Southern Avenue home and asked about cash and drugs in the house. When 39-year-old Eric Williams got home, here was a fight. He was shot and killed.
Thirty three-year-old Brandon Gilmore is one of the seven suspects charged. He was spotted by Hazlehurst Police Monday and ran when officers tried to approach him.
After a manhunt through several neighborhoods he was caught.
The other suspects are Antoine Liddell, Frank Finley, Darkeyus Brown, Andre Williams, Hailey Spears and Allison Patrick.
