JACKSON, Miss. - The race continues and the money keeps pouring in as Senator Thad Cochran and State Senator Chris McDaniel head to a runoff. According to numbers we pulled from the Federal Election Commission's website, total spending in the Cochran-McDaniel race hit the 12-point-four million dollar mark.
Eight-point-four million dollars came from super PAC's alone, seven million dollars of that was spent on television advertisements. Cochran campaign contributors dished out three million dollars. McDaniel supporters contributed over one-million dollars.
The big bucks are coming from members of political action committees pooling funds for the candidates.
Cochran's largest benefactor was the "Mississippi Conservatives" super PAC spending 1-point-6 million dollars.
Club for Growth spent at least $2.24 million on McDaniel's behalf.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce chipped in 500 thousand dollars. for an ad opposing McDaniel.
