Two people are in police custody after leading the Mississippi Highway Patrol on a chase in Wilkinson County.
The incident happened on Thursday around 4 p.m.
A Mississippi State Trooper attempted to pull over a speeding car on Highway 61 just south of Woodville. The driver of a 2012 Chevrolet Impala failed to stop for the officer.
About eight miles north of Woodville near the Buffalo River Bridge, three of the five occupants from Arkansas jumped out of the moving car and ran.
One of the three, Destinee Rhodes, 23, was injured and taken to the Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb. The other two passengers Ricardo M. Gilliam, 23, and Nuketa J. Smith, 23, were not injured.
The driver, Brandon Rhodes, 32, and his passenger Antonio Charleston, 32, continued north on Highway 61.
A witness to the chase contacted dispatch and told authorities the car was on Hyde Park Road.
Troopers did find the vehicle, but the occupants fled the scene on foot. Charleston was taken into custody within just a few minutes. After an hour-long search, authorities arrested Rhodes and charged him with felony fleeing and numerous traffic violations.
None of the other passengers have been charged at this time.
Authorities tell us the group was traveling from New Orleans to Arkansas following a cruise.
