RALEIGH, N.C. -
Raleigh police arrested and charged a man in connection with a Friday morning kidnapping that resulted in a traffic accident that shut down the eastbound lanes of New Bern Avenue.
Raleigh police said Jonathan Xavier Mejia, of Raleigh, was arrested and charged in relation to the accident. Mejia, 22, was charged with reckless driving to endanger, felony serious injury by vehicle, resisting public officer, driving while impaired, first degree kidnapping and misdemeanor assault inflicting serious injury
The single-vehicle wreck between Trawick Road and Corporation Parkway sent Heydi Bonilla, of Tarboro, to WakeMed for treatment, authorities said.
The road was reopened shortly after 8:15 a.m.
Raleigh Police said late Friday morning that they sent officers to respond to a kidnapping incident at 4:45 a.m. Police said a man took a woman "in relation to a domestic situation." Copyright 2014 WNCN. All rights reserved.
