MT. GILEAD, Ohio -

One person was killed in a crash involving three semis and a box truck in the southbound lanes of Interstate 71 in Morrow County.

Troopers from the Mt. Gilead post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the crash at about 12:18 p.m.

Troopers say that the crash involved tractor trailers, driven by David P. George, 64, of Montrose, Pennsylvania, Michael A Muersch, 35, of Portland, and Thomas E. Wolfe, 35, of Newark, and a box truck, driven by Leroy Carter Jr., of University Heights.

Carter was transported to Grant Medical center, where he later died, according to troopers.

Wolfe sustained minor injuries and was not hospitalized.

Investigators said that all four trucks were involved in an assured clear distance ahead crash, but did not specify which driver or drivers were at fault.

The crash remains under investigation.
