MOSCOW -- The USA Women’s 3x3 World Championship Team advanced to Saturday's Round of 16 at the 2014 FIBA 3x3 World Championships in Russia after the U.S. women earned the No. 1 seed out of Pool D on Friday.

The Americans won decisively over Ukraine (1-4) 21-10, Spain (4-1) 16-6 and Argentina (3-2) 21-11 to remain undefeated and will play Uruguay (1-4), the No. 4 seed out of Pool A, at 4:40 p.m. (8:40 a.m. ET) on Saturday.

“I think our goal is to win every ball game, and we have done that, but we realize that it’s zero-zero tomorrow – new slate, new competition, so we just have to come out with the right mindset and get ready to take care of business tomorrow,” said U.S. player and Lady Vol rising senior Cierra Burdick (Charlotte, N.C.).

“We watched film earlier this morning, we went over some of our sets, and I think that helped. Our play is getting crisper and crisper as the days go by. We know as we get into the crunch time of tomorrow and Sunday, we are going to be seeing better competition, so we have to be clicking on all cylinders.”

The top four teams in each pool advanced to the knockout phase, which begins with the round of 16 on Saturday, followed by the quarterfinals later that evening. The semifinals and finals will be contested on Sunday.

Burdick joins Sara Hammond (Louisville/Mt. Vernon, Ky.), Jewell Loyd (Notre Dame/Lincolnwood, Ill.) and Tiffany Mitchell (South Carolina/Charlotte, N.C.) to comprise the American squad.

The UT standout is seeking her fourth international gold medal with USA Basketball. She previously played for the 2011 U19 World Championship, the 2010 FIBA U17 World Championship and the 2009 FIBA Americas U16 Championship.

In addition to the women’s 3x3 tournament, included in the 2014 3x3 World Championship program will be a skills contest, shoot-out contest and free throw pursuits. Burdick is entered in the shoot-out competition. The qualification process will take place on Saturday, while the medal finals will be held on Sunday afternoon.
