It was a night full of dreams, families and animals.

St. Dominic’s partnered with the Jackson zoo to put on its 8th annual dream night.

"It's a great time just for our family to feel special and to have special attention without the entire crowd," says Sheila Cargile, parent.

The zoo opened its doors and arms to give families the full zoo experience after hours.

And the executive director for the zoo says nearly 200 people attended the event.

"It's not only for the children but also for the families of the children that have special things that they have to fight day in and day out," says Beth Poff, executive director.

The zoo had all its usual events, plus free food, a clown, magic tricks and activities.

"It's an opportunity for my kid to come out and be able to do things that he doesn't get to do on a daily basis because of being around a lot of people," says Jeremy Rushing, parent.

This is an international event with more than 900 zoos participating around the world.

This is a ‘Caring for Mississippi’ event.
