According to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office report deputies were dispatched to 6301 Flamingo Dr. at 1:30 a.m. in response to a person down call. The deceased was found unresponsive on the front lawn of the residence.

The report states that David Charles Brittle Jr. and his girlfriend went to visit his father at his home on Friday night. They decided to go to a nearby bar to have a drink. Brittle Jr., a 23-year-old Lakeland resident, got upset when he though his girlfriend was talking to other men and decided to walk back to his father’s home.

A short time later, Brittle Sr., Brittle Jr.’s girlfriend and another woman returned to the residence. As they walked up the driveway they were confronted by Brittle Jr. The father and son engage in a verbal argument which soon turned physical.

A crew with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue attempted to revive Brittle Sr. but their attempts were unsuccessful. No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine an official cause of death. The results of the investigation will be turned over to the State Attorney’s Office to see if charges are warranted.
