A Man is Arrested on I-20 After Trying to Fight an Officer
According to Trooper Eric Henry with MHP it happened around 7:30 p.m. on I-20 west near the Springridge Road exit. A trooper made a traffic stop after noticing a silver Honda Accord without a license plate. Once the officer pulled over the two individuals, Trooper Henry says, the officer noticed the smell of marijuana. Both individuals, males ages 22-25, were asked to get out of the vehicle. Trooper Henry says one answered “Is this an arrest?” The man then resisted arrest and tried to fight the officer. The officer then pulled out a weapon and had to taser the man. He was charged with resisting arrest. The other man was charged with possession of marijuana. Trooper Henry says it was less than an ounce of marijuana. Both men were taken to Hinds County jail and immigration was called. Neither men have been identified. This is still under investigation.
