RICHLAND, Miss. - Richland authorities say they are on the scene of an ammonia leak at a local plant and all the employees have been evacuated from the building.
The leak happened at the Millard Refrigerated Services located at 300 Industrial Park, according to the fire department.
Officials are not sure how big the leak is at this time. Authorities have also issued a full evacuation within a half mile radius of the building.
They are preparing to send a team inside to investigate, according to Todd Stanford, Captain of the Richland Fire Department. Stanford said they believe a maintenance worker detected the leak Monday morning.
Stanford said the ammonia leak can be very toxic and bad for the lungs.
