JACKSON, Miss. -  Burned burglar bars are what could have saved one Jackson woman's life after someone tried to firebomb her home.

We're told this happened on Sunday morning at a house on Randall Street, Near Martin Luther King Drive in the middle of Jackson. Fire crews were called to the home around 6:30 Sunday morning on reports that the house had been firebombed.
Chief Arson Investigator Greg Travis says, not one, but three molotov cocktails were thrown at the house and the only thing keeping them from going inside were the burglar bars on the windows.
The firebombs hit the ground instead and neighbors came over and stomped out the flames.

Travis says the fire was mostly out by the time crews arrived. Catherine Thornton lives at the home with her two daughters and two dogs.
She says she has no idea why they were targeted.

"We are three innocent women here. There's no reason why anyone should come here throwing bombs at our house," Thornton said.

Chief Travis asking anyone with information to call their tip line.
