CLINTON, Miss. - Completion of the Pinehaven Road improvement project is coming to a close. The engineers overseeing the project have released a timeline of when the next phases should be complete.
June 9-4: Workers will complete sodding and grading work and install a first layer of asphalt. Traffic will also be moved to the outside lanes in preparation for construction of center islands and turn lanes.
June 16-21: Hemphill Construction will dig out center islands and complete the installation of curb and gutter of center islands.
June 23-28: Crews will backfill and grade center islands. Additionally, all signal and electrical work will be completed.
June 30 - July 3: Landscaping and sod will be completed at the Natchez trace and in the center islands. Existing pavements at Northside Drive and Pinehaven will be milled and the final surface will be installed. Permanent signs will be added to the roadway.
Beginning July 7: Crews will install the final surface of Pinehaven Road and Arrow Drive.
July 12: Crews plan to open all four lanes to traffic.
Following a ten day curing time for the asphalt, permanent striping will be completed July 23-26.
As construction continues, motorists are reminded to exercise caution when driving in the construction zones. Engineers, contractors and Clinton Police are reminding drivers to slow down while passing construction zones after several workers report narrow misses with passing automobiles.
