RIDGELAND, Miss. - A family member of one of the painters who was injured in a scaffold accident Wednesday said the men suffered some serious injuries and are still in the hospital.
Wilson Bullock, the stepson to painter Nathan Johnston, said his stepfather is being treated at University Medical Center. He said Johnston likely suffered a traumatic brain injury and that he likely broke a vertebrae.
Bullock tells us that Johnston has swelling on his brain and that doctors cannot perform surgery until it goes down.
The other painter, Tommy Harrell suffered a severely broken jaw, according to Bullock.
On Wednesday around after 8:30 a.m., the two men were standing on a scaffold at a home on Westfield Road in Ridgeland when it broke. Bullock estimates the men fell about 15 feet.
Bullock said a scaffold may have fallen down on top of them as well.
