Judge Bill Weisenberger
MADISON COUNTY, Miss. - A Madison County Justice Court Judge accused of slapping a mentally challenged black man and using a racial slur at Canton Flea Market, was scheduled to be back on the bench Monday morning, but but another was serving in his place. A grand jury could soon decided whether or not to indict Judge Bill Weisenberger for those allegations.
The Canton NAACP filed a complaint with the state commission in judicial performance calling for Weisenberger to be required to take leave from office until the criminal matter is resolved.
Weisenberger is also reportedly under scrutiny for a recent ruling.
The Attorney General's Office of Public Integrity is said to be investigating the judge for giving a harsher sentence to a black man that he did two whites, even though all three were convicted of the same crime.
News Channel 12 has reached out to Weisenberger to hear what he has to say. Our calls have not been returned.
