Johnson forced to wait another year for Thunder Valley win

BRISTOL, Tenn. - We finished another successful run of the NHRA's Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway Sunday, and our three top class winners were all first timers in the Bristol winner's circle.

The bad thing was that none of them were our local favorite, Greeneville's Allen Johnson.

Johnson went out in the first round of bracket racing, meaning it's another year waiting for that first Bristol win.

"We all try really hard, and maybe we overcompensate a little bit," Johnson said. "We've got a great veteran team, and I never lose faith in them, and they never lose faith in me. We stepped up there and did our job, and it just didn't work out."

Johnson's day wasn't a total loss. He posted on his Facebook account that he met his biggest fan, Darlene Dalton, and that once they finally win at Bristol, she'll be right there with him in winner's circle.
