The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is asking for the public's help to locate a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Verona.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says 33-year-old Roy Ray Merritt is charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Law enforcement says Merritt is considered armed and dangerous.
Merritt was last seen Saturday afternoon when he allegedly shot two people outside a home on City Point Road.
41-year-old Rodney Lowery, was one of the victims and he died after he was shot multiple times.

Cornell Weatherspoon was shot once and is out of the hospital.

Johnson says the shooting is connected to an argument and fight that happened Friday at the Eagle store on Raymond Avenue in Verona.

Verona police is investigating the Friday incident, but the department turned the shooting over to sheriff's investigators since Lowery is related to someone on the Board of Aldermen.

If you know where Merritt is, you are asked to call the Lee County Sheriff's Department at (662) 841-9040 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Mississippi at (800) 773-TIPS.
