JACKSON, Miss. - Two suspects from Jackson who were arrested during a nationwide operation tackling child exploitation appeared in federal court Thursday.
25-year-old Justin D. Hurst and 27-year-old Audrey Lashay Tillman were being held with out bond. At the hearing, officials say a judge bound both defendants over to await action of the grand jury.
Hurst and Tillman were charged with recruiting, enticing, transporting, providing, and maintaining female children under the age of 18 to engage in commercial sex acts.
The FBI Child Exploitation Task Force conducted the undercover operation called “Operation Cross Country VIII” over the weekend. As a part of the operation, undercover officers responded to an internet ad on a site known to law enforcement to be used for prostitution.
A 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl, both victims of child sex trafficking, were rescued in the operation.
