HINDS COUNTY, Miss. - The Hinds County Sheriff's Department and Jackson Police are working together to tackle drugs and crime in the Metro area.

Authorities acted on a tip that lead them to find crystal meth, ecstasy, two shot guns, a pistol, along with $8,000 in cash on Monday. Officials say the drug bust happened on Fourth Street. They say three people were arrested in connection to the crime.

Sheriff's Deputies and JPD officers also conducted a patrol together on Jane Street. In that bust, they found 14 pounds of marijuana, a gun, and  $4,000 in cash. One person was arrested.

They say the joint partnership of these drug busts are a part of a long-term crime operation involving the City of Jackson as well.

The joint operation will mainly focus on the areas of Capitol Street, I-220, Ellis Avenue, and I-20.

Authorities say they got the idea of the partnership from a Louisiana State University joint operation with the City of Baton Rouge. Chief Horton said the program there has seen a lot of success in Louisiana.
