ELLISTON (WSLS) - A Montgomery County Sherrif's Deputy was bitten and hit by a man after the deputy found the man choking his wife, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Just before 1 a.m. Friday morning, a Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy responded to a call about a domestic disturbance in the 500 block of Brake Road.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the deputy heard people fighting and saw a man on top of a woman with hands around her throat attempting to choke her.

After ordering the man to stop, the deputy tried to handcuff the suspect, 31-year-old, Gary Wayne Baker, but Baker resisted, hitting the deputy in the face and running away.

The deputy chased Baker, who ran into a nearby mobile home. The two fought inside the home and Baker reportedly bit the deputy on the inside of his thigh, hit him with a two-by-two board and was punched the deputy several times.

Another deputy arrived to assist in the arrest and was finally handcuffed by the deputies.

Baker is charged with four felonies, including aggravated malicious wounding and assault on a law enforcement officer. He also faces four misdemeanor charges in connection with the incident and is being held in the Montgomery County Jail with no bond.
