Raleigh police have arrested a second man wanted in connection with a vehicle theft that occurred Saturday morning.

Joseph Calvin Culverhouse, 31, was arrested Sunday night and is now facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and kidnapping, police said.

On Saturday, Raleigh police arrested a 46-year-old man for vehicle theft after a series of incidents took place earlier that day.

Police received a call carjacking in progress call around 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Milburnie Road and Raleigh Boulevard.

Shortly after, an incident was reported involving two vehicles in the parking lot of the Food Lion in the 3600 block of New Bern Avenue. Upon arrival, Raleigh police found a white Chrysler Pacific. Police said the second vehicle left the scene before Raleigh police arrived.

Police located and arrested the driver of the Pacifica, identified as Endrell Dwayne Oliver, 46, and charged him with vehicle theft.

Raleigh police said a carjacking did not happen as Oliver is believed to have stolen the Pacifica earlier and not at the intersection of Milburnie Road and Raleigh Boulevard.

According to a release from Raleigh police, Culverhouse is facing the assault charge as it relates to the shots fired during the incident, and the kidnapping charge is due to forcing a 30-year-old female victim to drive the second vehicle involved in the incident. The kidnapping victim knew Culverhouse before the incident. Culverhouse was a passenger in the vehicle driven by the kidnapping victim.
