A truck driver is killed by electrocution, according to officials,  after colliding with a power line in Rankin County.

Coroner Jimmy Roberts tells News Channel 12, the victim is 23-year-old Clarence Honer Jr. of Jackson.

It happened just after 6:30 Saturday morning on Marquette Road between the General Motors facility and Brown Bottling Group in Brandon.

Officials say the one-vehicle accident involved a box truck, and  reports indicate the driver left the roadway and struck a power line.

Roberts says the power line came down on the truck and when Honer jumped out of the truck he got electrocuted.

The driver died on scene outside his truck.
