LAKE WALES, FL (WFLA) -

Dash cam video rolled as David Fredericksen and his co-driver witnessed a horrible crash outside Biloxi, Mississippi.

It happened last Monday as they drove a load of orange juice in a large tanker truck.

A grandmother driving her young granddaughter lost control and slammed into a semi, igniting the truck's fuel tanks.

On video posted to YouTube you can hear co-driver Walter Letterman exclaim: “Wholly cow. That guy's dead, dude."

Fredericksen and Letterman considered what to do.

Again, the dash-cam video recorded their comments. “Do you think I should see if I can get em out of the car?”

While the driver of a van navigated around debris and took off, Fredericksen headed to the wreck along with other good samaritans ready to help.

During a quick break on the same route to California, Fredericksen spoke to News Channel 8 via Skype.

“Either they're hurt bad or they can't get out. So that's when I decided to grab the fire extinguisher and go out there and try to beat the flames back,” he said.

The driver of the truck the car hit is astonished everybody survived.

“When I started walking back through the debris that's when I seen that stroller. I'm just glad everybody it out, I don't know how we all made it through that,” said Scott Swanstrom.

It happened in an instant, but will live in the trucker's memories for a long time.

“I could have never drove again if I took somebody's life,” said Swanstrom.

“I believe that the lady and the child had a purpose in life yet to fulfill, so we were there, me and my co-driver both believe that it was a blessing that we were there at that time,” said Fredericksen.

David Fredericksen drives for Oakley Transportation in Lake Wales.

He said he'd like to hear from the victim of this crash.

He explains, she was driving too fast on an on-ramp and spun around, hit the 18-wheeler.
