PINELLAS COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

Tuesday's primary election will be the final decision on some races across the Tampa Bay region.

Although primaries are often thought of as precursors to the general election, some contests won't make it that far.

For example, three judicial races in Hillsborough County have only two candidates, meaning the primary election will determine who sits on the bench.

In judicial and school board races that have three or more candidates, there is a runoff election in the general only if no candidate gets more than 50 percent of the vote. In Hillsborough County, two school board races have three candidates and one has eight (including incumbent April Griffin).

In Pinellas County, voters in district 6 have a universal primary, meaning all voters can vote in that primary election. The winner does not have an opponent in the general election so the primary decides the seat.

All Pinellas County voters can weigh in on a referendum on whether to give new businesses creating full-time jobs can get tax breaks.
