ROANOKE (WSLS) - There has been a strange twist to a story about a missing couple out of Roanoke.

County Police initially said the couple was missing and disappeared under "suspicious circumstances." Now, police say the pair are actually thieves.

Joshua Bolt and Tiffany Holland were believed to be missing after their car was found abandoned in seemingly random a driveway. Tiffany's family says police found her cell phone and keys inside the car. Her sister said this led them to believe something was seriously wrong. She even thought Tiffany might have been killed.

Four days later, a call came into Roanoke City Police about the couple riding a lawn mower going down Bennington Street in Roanoke City. Police were able to arrest and charge Tiffany, but Joshua took off.

However, Joshua is no stranger to the law. He has prior convictions for aggravated battery and use of a firearm, and is a convicted felon in Volusia County, Florida.

Roanoke County Police Sgt. Jeff Johnson said more than a $1,000 worth of property was found on the lawn mower and on Tiffany's person. The lawn mower was also stolen.

Police believe the couple burglarized three separate homes on Aug. 18.

Tiffany's family says the couple left their four children with family on Saturday with the intention that they would come back. They say the two of them are known to have drug problems.

Although, her sister says she did talk to Tiffany in jail, she says Tiffany said this may have been what she needed to clean up her act.

Police are still looking for 37-year-old Joshua Bolt. He's considered to be armed and dangerous. Police say he stole a firearm from one of the homes.
