Mississippi State Football Player's Brother Shot

Tyriunce Lewis, brother of a Mississippi State football player, was shot Sunday. Tyriunce Lewis, brother of a Mississippi State football player, was shot Sunday.

Mississippi State University football player, Jameon Lewis' brother was shot Sunday afternoon in Tylertown, according to officials.

Walthall County Sheriff Duane Dillon tells News Channel 12, it happened at Oakhurst Apartments Sunday morning before 11.

Sheriff Dillon says a disagreement between Tyriunce Lewis and Kendall Magee escalated into gunfire. 

 According to Sheriff Dillon, Magee shot Lewis once in the head with a handgun. 

Lewis was airlifted to Forrest General Hospital after 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. 

Sheriff Dillon says Lewis is currently at the hospital in ICU.

Magee is in custody with charges pending until his initial court appearance.

Sheriff Dillon says he doesn't know what the fight was about and he confirms with News Channel 12 that Lewis is the brother of Mississippi State's wide receiver, Jameon Lewis.

The shooting happened within city limits of Tylertown, but the sheriffs office is assisting.
