Jacob Lanier

Jacob Lanier is the weekday morning meteorologist for 12 News and joined Storm Team 12 in June of 2019. He has earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society (CBM #851), a mark of professional distinction and recognition.

He graduated in 2019 from Mississippi State with a Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology. While at MSU, Jacob was the head drum major for the Famous Maroon Band. At Mississippi State, he also won the “Best Collegiate Weathercast” award from the Louisiana-Mississippi Associated Press. He enjoys keeping you safe during Mississippi severe weather and sharing your weather photos of sunrises, sunsets, and storms. Jacob loves living in Mississippi’s Capital City!

A native of Atlanta, GA, Jacob loves the active weather that comes with living in the Southeast. When not forecasting the weather, he likes being outdoors, working out, and playing board games! He also enjoys cheering on the MSU Bulldogs and the Atlanta Falcons.
