A native of Florida, John grew up in Connecticut, where he was obsessed with the hurricanes and blizzards that caused all kinds of travel chaos up and down the east coast.
After high school, John attended Saint Olaf College in Minnesota, where he earned a B.A. in Chinese language and history. He then went on to live and work for six years in South Korea and China.
However, weather was always John’s true calling, and upon returning from China, he attended Western Connecticut State University, where he earned a B.S. in Meteorology in 2016.
John worked for one semester as a meteorology intern at WTNH-TV in New Haven, Conn. Before coming to WJTV, he was a weekday morning and weekend meteorologist at KNBN-TV in Rapid City, South Dakota.
John and his wife, Yvonne, have traveled throughout Asia and Europe. Among John’s more eccentric hobbies are license plate and map collecting. He plays the saxophone (poorly) and has tried his hand at composing music.
