JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Governor Tate Reeves announced Mississippi’s teachers and first responders will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine starting March 1, 2021.
The governor announced 30,000 new first-dose appointments were just loaded into the state system on Wednesday, February 24. Teachers and first responders can call 1-877-978-6453 or go to https://covidvaccine.umc.edu/ to set up an appointment.
The eligibility also includes employees at private schools, daycares, preschools and district board staff. Those who work at college and university campuses are not eligible at this time, because experts have seen more trace of contamination at lower levels.
By next week, Mississippi should receive more than 60,000 doses of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines.
