UMMC deploys mobile field hospital for COVID-19 patient care


JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson is taking an new step aimed at protecting its patients and staff from the coronavirus (COVID-19).

There is a new mobile hospital set up in Parking Garage B on campus. The field hospital will help relieve pressure on UMMC when it comes to non-severe cases.

Doctors will be able to treat minor respiratory illnesses, like strep throat, flu and non-life threatening COVID-19 patients.

The mobile hospital opened at noon on Wednesday, April 8. If you want to book an appointment, you must do so through the C Spire Health App.
