RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – It was a scary time for a 12-year-old left home alone when someone broke in and stole prescription medication.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect came in through an open garage door like this one and then walked right into the house.
A 12-year-old child was at home when it happened.
He says the suspect knocked on the front door before going around to the garage.
“The next thing he knows he hears the door open. A side door opens. A white man came into the residence and was yelling the name of Andrew. Which there is no Andrew at that residence. That’s when he went to a back bedroom and was able to get outside of the house,” said Raymond Duke, an Investigator, Rankin County Sheriff’s Office.
The child got out and called his parents and went to a neighbor’s house.
The suspect stole two different prescription drugs from the house.
He may be driving a newer model black Ford F-150.
If he’s caught, the suspect will be charged with residential burglary, which is a felony.
