18-wheeler driver crashes off roadway to avoid hitting school bus

COPIAH COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) — An 18-wheeler driver ran off the road trying to avoid hitting a school bus Wednesday in Copiah County.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Corporal Eric Henry said troopers responded to the scene on Highway 28 near Barlow Road around 7:05 a.m.

The 18-wheeler was headed east when the driver intentionally ran the log truck off the roadway to avoid rear-ending a school bus that was stopped on the road picking up students.

The driver said he did not see the bus until he came over a hill. He was not injured.

The log truck spilled logs, but the roadway is not blocked.

No children were injured.
